I can't figure out what genre Alt-J's An Awesome Wave fits into, and that's part of the reason that I like it. The vocals are weird, the lyrics are weird, and each song contains an element that I didn't expect. I enjoyed the instrumental aspect of this album immediately, and once I got used to the unconventional vocals, I began to like the whole thing more and more every time I listened to it.
